Awesomeness, in its purest form, is often found right outside our respective doors. For all the awesome things that people do, it’s hard to beat natural phenomena. British filmmakers Liberty Smith and Sophie Windsor Clive (Islands and Rivers) filmed this breathtaking encounter with a massive flock (otherwise known as a murmuration) of starlings flying over the River Shannon in Ireland.

Like schools of fish, these birds protect themselves by traveling in large, densely-packed groups whose shapes are constantly transforming. These birds are just going about their normal business, trying to survive, but in the process they create an incredibly awesome spectacle to behold.

If this short film, entitled Murmurationdoesn’t leave you with at least a few goosebumps please take a moment to make sure you’re still breathing and haven’t begun craving human brain matter.

Apparently Ambassadeurs made this reworking of Feist - The Water last night while watching the sun set over Brighton, it definitely comes across in the warm summery vibes. Really enjoying this reconstruction.

Feist - The Water (Ambassadeurs Reconstruction)

About:

Design has power. Intention and forethought, planning and care. The shaping of the future by human hands. It's risky, dangerous, even. Wielding power and creating, changing, destroying, adapting and evolving. Nothing will ever be the same again. Can we handle that?

It's my belief that the way things are designed can change the ways we live. Let's design better, simpler, healthier, more fulfilling lives. Let's redesign wealth. Let's design sustainable lifestyles without sacrificing comfort, joy and productivity. And let's do it elegantly, so function follows form.
